The sudden onset of pain and discomfort in the knee may be synovitis, septic arthritis, or other lesions. It is also important to observe whether the child has a history of colds or strenuous exercise to help determine this. If there is significant localized redness or swelling or an abnormal mass, promptly go to the hospital for an examination. For example, the knee joint can be photographed and, if necessary, MRI examined. If it is septic arthritis, promptly give cephalosporin antibiotic treatment. If the problem is synovitis, generally speaking, it is related to the cold, so you can treat the cold. Synovitis can generally heal on its own after the cold is over, and pay attention to reducing the child’s activities to help relieve local pain.
