Precautions after cleft lip surgery

Fever is a common postoperative sign in children with cleft lip. Families should not worry too much about it, but try to ensure the child’s daily milk intake, which can be combined with physical cooling and oral pediatric antipyretics if necessary. 1. Feeding: After the child is fully awake after surgery, he can enter the liquid, usually about 4 hours after surgery. If the child is crying seriously, you can ask the doctor on duty to check the child’s recovery and decide whether to feed slightly earlier. Breastfeeding can be done after two weeks of small spoon feeding. 2.Care: There may be bloody discharge from the lip incision after surgery, which should be cleaned regularly to keep the incision clean and avoid bacterial growth; do not accompany too many family members after surgery, which may affect the child’s rest and recovery; avoid lip collision. 3.Stitch removal: According to the size of the child’s cleft, the sutures can be removed 5 to 7 days after surgery, and the removal of sutures is mostly done under general anesthesia. 4.Post-discharge: Apply products to reduce scarring after discharge according to medical advice, massage the lips regularly, and wear nasal film or not according to medical advice.
