The stitches are usually removed in about 12 days after popliteal cyst surgery when the wound is healing well. The time to remove the stitches is not only related to the surgical site, but also has a certain relationship with age.
Popliteal cyst surgery site is in the joints of the limbs, the mobility is large, remove the stitches too early, may lead to wound splitting, if the wound surface is dry, healing well, no edema, inflammatory exudate and so on, generally in about 12 days after surgery can be removed. There may be slight edema at the wound after suture removal, which is normal.
Elderly patients with relatively slow tissue metabolism and slow wound healing may need to delay the removal of stitches for 1 to 2 days after surgery.
If the wound is infected, diabetes, etc., the wound healing may be delayed after popliteal cyst surgery, and the stitches need to be removed after the doctor’s evaluation.
