Precautions to take after having laser spot removal

The principle of laser blemish removal is through selective photothermal principle, different wavelengths of light are absorbed by the corresponding pigments, and the pigment particles rapidly expand and break up after absorbing the high energy of laser in an instant, forming smaller fragments, which are removed by phagocytes in the body in the subsequent inflammatory reaction. Thus, the purpose of lightening pigmentation is achieved. Generally speaking, after laser treatment, there will be some redness, swelling and burning sensation on the affected area or a trace of osmosis, which is a normal phenomenon. This is normal. Ice packs can be applied immediately after the treatment to relieve the redness, swelling and pain, which will disappear in about one or two weeks. Afterwards, a scab will be produced and will fall off in about seven to ten days. Do not scrape it off with your fingers, but let it fall off by itself. When the scabs fall off, the treatment area will be pink, and you must pay attention to sun protection at this time, and the color will gradually normalize after about a few months. In some cases, the color will return to black after two or three weeks, and most of them will start to fade after the second month to six months. If the pigmentation is too deep to be treated completely at once, you must wait for a month for the skin to stabilize before treating it again. After washing the treated area with warm water in the morning and evening, wipe dry with sterile cotton swab and apply the cream evenly on the affected area. After the scabs fall off, you need to rub sunscreen and apply it indoors. Take more vitamin C supplements to promote melanin metabolism. Try to avoid sunlight for three weeks before receiving the treatment, so as not to hinder the effect of the treatment. Half of the responsibility for good results of laser treatment lies with the patient, and sun protection is an important part of the process. Temporary re-tanning after surgery can usually achieve the desired results in a few months if sun protection is thoroughly done and alcoholic beverages, spicy foods, and strenuous exercise are avoided, as well as irritants that tend to cause skin flushing and fever.
