Gastric acid is the main component of gastric juice, and there are 1 billion wall cells on the surface of the gastric mucosa in normal people, which secrete about 22mmol of gastric acid per hour, and its secretion is influenced by the regulation of nerve cells and hormones.
For example, when a patient is infected with H. pylori or has excessive nerve tension, it can cause phytodysfunction, hyperfunction of the stomach wall cells and increased secretion of gastric acid; and for patients with gastrinoma, the secretion of gastric acid naturally increases as the stomach wall cells are about twice as large as normal.
