Abstract: The child was found to have dental caries during the physical examination in kindergarten, and came to the outpatient clinic at the suggestion of the health care provider. After inquiry, the child said that he had toothache occasionally recently, and he usually did not give candy, but he rarely brushed his teeth, and after careful examination, he was diagnosed with dental caries. After treatment with composite resin bonding restoration technology, the tooth cavity was eliminated and the tooth form and function were restored to normal.

I. First interview
The child was found to have caries during the physical examination in kindergarten, and his family brought him to the outpatient clinic under the suggestion of the health care doctor. After inquiry, the child said that he had toothache occasionally during meals in recent weeks, and he was not given sugar, but he seldom brushed his teeth, and only brushed once in a while when he thought of it, and the family denied that the child had spontaneous tooth pain. After careful examination, it was found that the occlusal surface of many teeth of the child was discolored and blackened, the hard tissue of the teeth was destroyed, and some of them had formed caries cavities, and soft decaying matter could be detected in the cavities with a probe.
Treatment process
The caries treatment scheme includes two kinds of composite resin bonding restoration technology and glass ion restoration technology, the composite resin material has high strength, good wear resistance and aesthetic appearance, which is widely used in the clinic at present, but the price is relatively high. Glass ionomer material is relatively less expensive, but there are disadvantages that it is easier to fall off than composite resin material, and the color and teeth are different, so we choose composite resin restoration after communicating with the family. Firstly, we use cotton roll to isolate the wet, then we use dental drill to remove the decayed tissue, prepare the tooth, rinse the cavity, acid etch the tooth surface, apply bonding agent, fill the composite resin material into the cavity and perform light curing, finally trim the shape of the filling material, adjust the occlusion and polish the tooth surface. Since the child was young, we patiently explained the treatment steps while doing the treatment and calmed him down. After that, we explained to the parents that the main reason for the caries of the child is not brushing the teeth carefully, and they must brush the teeth regularly after going home.
Treatment effect
The caries treatment was completed on the same day of the visit, and after the treatment, the blackened and discolored teeth and cavities of the child’s teeth were eliminated, and the form and function of the teeth were restored to normal. It was suggested that the child should be reviewed after 3 months. After 3 months, the child came to the follow-up clinic under the leadership of parents, and learned that during the follow-up period of 3 months, the parents insisted on brushing the child’s teeth every morning and evening, and made sure the brushing time reached 3 minutes, and the child did not have toothache again. It was found that the child’s teeth remained white and intact, and the filling material did not fall off, indicating that the treatment had achieved satisfactory results.
Precautions
It is a good news that the caries of the child has been improved after the treatment. However, since dental caries cannot be cured, teeth of any age may be diseased. In order to prevent the child from being troubled by dental caries in the future, parents are told to do a good job of cleaning his or her mouth and brush his or her teeth every morning and evening, using fluoride toothpaste that can be swallowed, and the brushing time needs to reach 3-5 minutes, with at least 10 brushes on each tooth surface, so as to better clean the teeth and remove plaque. In combination with the actual situation of the child, it is recommended to brush independently around the age of 5. In the future, if you find that the teeth are black or the filling material is lost, you need to consult the doctor promptly.
V. Personal insight
For children, tooth brushing is often neglected in the process of dental protection. The parents of the child in this case know that eating sugar is not good for dental health, but they do not realize the importance of brushing for dental protection. Parents should understand the pathogenesis of dental caries, and as a dentist, not only treat the disease, but also think about the patient from the perspective of prevention and health care, and usually carry out more medical science.
