Flossing for caries prevention

Employing dental floss to clean between your teeth takes getting used to, but is easy to learn. When you start using it, it may be a little clumsy and it takes more time to clean the gaps between your teeth. With practice, it will get faster. And your patience will soon be rewarded with healthier teeth. Start cleaning between your teeth at the incisors on your lower jaw. The procedure is as follows: Hold a piece of dental floss taut between the thumb and forefinger of each hand. Carefully introduce the floss into each gap with a gentle sawing motion. Pull the floss gently back and forth several times. Lift the thread upwards again. Next, clean the gaps between the teeth in the upper jaw in the same way. The gums may bleed a little when you start this cleaning. If you are cleaning the gaps as prescribed and are still bleeding after a few days of cleaning, you should visit your dentist as soon as possible.
