Keratomileusis Treatment for Youth Myopia

The rate of myopia development in adolescents is relatively fast, especially before the age of 18, due to the heavy study load. Currently, only CRT keratomileusis technology has gained medical recognition in controlling the rate of myopia development in adolescents. What is CRT keratomileusis? CRT keratoplasty is a special rigid keratoplasty lens designed according to the corneal geometry and refractive error of the myopic patient. CRT keratoplasty is an advanced technology for myopia control that originated in the U.S. and has been in development for 40 years since the 1960s. After 40 years of development, CRT has made breakthroughs in materials and technology, and was approved by the FDA in 2003, CRT has become popular in Europe and America. CRT keratoplasty is a new technology for myopia correction and myopia control, and is one of the effective ways to correct myopia in youth and control its development. The two stages of correction require only sleep wear: 1. The first month is the correction period, a period that focuses on getting the patient’s visual acuity or reduced prescription to the expected state. During this period, the physician will closely follow the patient’s condition and adjust the treatment plan in a timely manner, including the wearing method, length of wearing time, and adjustment of lenses, while the patient must follow up and cooperate with the correction on time according to the regulations and medical instructions. 2, after the completion of the correction period into the maintenance and consolidation period. During this period, depending on the individual’s situation, patients need to wear lenses every day or every other day (for a few people) in order to maintain their post-correctional naked eye vision. Who is a good candidate for CRT keratoplasty lenses? CRT keratoplasty lenses are not suitable for all myopic patients. CRT keratoplasty lenses should only be prescribed after examination by an ophthalmologist to rule out contraindications. In general, CRT keratoplasty lenses are suitable for the following types of myopic patients: 1) school-age children and adolescents with myopia who wish to have their myopia corrected or stabilized, including school students; 2) myopic patients who are photophobic to the use of long-acting dilating agents; 3) those with special requirements for vision (such as police, military, aviation, etc.) but who suffer from myopia; 4) highly Myopic patients with unequal vision; 5, myopic patients who rarely wear glasses; 6, low myopic patients who do not want to wear myopic glasses and do not want to wear presbyopic glasses after the age of 40; 7, myopic patients who are not suitable for or do not want surgery (including corrective myopic laser surgery) but want to remove their glasses; Advantages of CRT keratomileusis: 1, only need to wear 8 hours of sleep at night, no need to wear glasses during the day. Corneal shaping lenses can be adjusted at any time according to changes in the eyes and vision, and can effectively control the deepening of myopia in adolescents whose myopia has not yet stabilized. Users only need to wear them for 8 hours at night during sleep, and can recover good naked eye vision during the day without the need for glasses, which can be said not to affect the need for study, work and sports. 2. It can greatly reduce the possibility of eye diseases. Although the keratoplasty lens is similar to the usual “contact lens”, but it has no glare, diffraction, visual fatigue and other side effects, it uses the latest technology in the United States, with high oxygen permeability, high light transmission, high physiological solubility, far better than traditional soft lenses, can greatly reduce the possibility of eye disease. 3. An effective myopia correction method applicable to those under 18 years old. For the majority of school-age children and adolescents who cannot undergo myopia correction surgery due to age factor (under 18 years old), CRT keratoplasty is one of the effective ways to correct myopia. 4, CRT keratoplasty has the effect of curbing myopia deepening. An important factor in the development of myopia is the growth of the eye axis. In general, the eye axis grows by 1mm and the myopia increases by 300 degrees. According to a study by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, after two years of wearing keratomileusis, the growth of the eye axis is only half of that of frame glasses; a study by the Medical Department of Peking University shows that the average annual myopia growth after keratomileusis is 8 degrees, while the annual myopia increase with frame glasses is 67 degrees, indicating that modern keratomileusis has the role of curbing myopia deepening. 5, wearing safe and comfortable, CRT keratomileusis has a high oxygen permeability and other excellent characteristics of high technology, so that the tissue structure of the cornea is not damaged, no damage to the eye, but pay attention to the maintenance of the lens. 6.Under 200 degrees can get rid of myopic glasses and presbyopic glasses. The process of wearing treatment is repeatable and recoverable. Therefore, myopic patients with less than 200 degrees of myopia can get rid of myopic glasses in their youth and presbyopic glasses after 40 years old after receiving the correction of this technology.
