If the patient is born with congenital iris heterochromia, most cases do not affect the patient’s health and do not usually require treatment if they are not accompanied by other eye and body complaints. Patients with acquired iris heterochromia, which is caused by a disease after birth, should seek prompt medical attention as it can lead to iris atrophy, blurred vision, visual impairment, eye congestion and cloudy lens, depending on the causative factors.
