Headaches often occur after hydrocephalus or arachnoid cyst shunts and have complex causes that require a great deal of parental attention. One common cause may be shunt-related migraine. Migraines often have a family history and anti-migraine medication is largely effective. The one that needs attention is the lacunar ventricular syndrome. I have a more detailed introductory article on cleft ventricle syndrome (in my article) that I recommend parents of affected children read. I first discovered this disease in 2007. I was the first to mention the concept of lacunar ventricular syndrome after arachnoid cyst shunt in China after reviewing a large amount of foreign literature. 2010 I published the largest number of case reports internationally. The consequences of lacunar ventricular syndrome, if not treated effectively, are very serious and can result in blindness or even death. If treated effectively, the healing is excellent! Currently, most neurosurgeons in China do not fully understand lacunar ventricular syndrome and advise the family of the child to always seek expert treatment. The first consultation is very important, and proper treatment can prevent the child from needlessly suffering from multiple surgeries as well as neurological damage.
