How long to wear the neck brace a day

The role of a cervical brace is to limit the movement of the cervical spine and to protect it. How long you wear a cervical brace a day is mainly determined by your condition and cannot be generalized. If you wear a cervical brace to protect your cervical spine, to avoid damage or to reduce the activity of the cervical spine, you should not wear it for more than one hour. If you need to wear a cervical brace because of a disease, the specific time will depend on the cause of the disease. Clinically it is generally indicated for cervical spine trauma resulting in cervical spine muscle injury, small joint disorders, cervical spine fractures, etc. For the above mentioned injuries, the neck brace should be worn for a long time, and it is generally recommended to wear it for 24 hours until the neck injury has fully recovered before removing the neck brace fixation. For some patients, such as soft tissue injury of the neck and muscle strain of the neck and collar, it is generally recommended to wear a cervical brace for protection when getting up and walking to avoid aggravation of the injury, and the brace can be removed when resting in bed. In case of cervical fracture, it is recommended that the cervical brace be worn all the time and not removed even when sleeping at night. In conclusion, the duration of cervical brace immobilization should be decided according to the specific condition and should be done under medical advice.
