What are the common problems with erupting teeth?

(1) When the baby teeth erupt, the child likes to bite the nipple (when breastfeeding) or finger, then the child can be given an artificial rubber nipple instead and let the child bite the toy in order to stimulate the gums and make the teeth erupt smoothly through the gingival mucosa. When the teeth erupt, the trigeminal nerve is stimulated, causing an increase in saliva secretion and temporary salivation due to the shallow floor of the child’s mouth and the inability to swallow too much saliva, which can disappear naturally as the child grows older. (2) When the molar erupts, there is still a gingival flap covering the far middle occlusal part, which retains food residue, which is favorable for bacterial growth and reproduction and can lead to pericoronitis and dental caries, and it is commonly used clinically to rinse with 3% hydrogen peroxide and saline, apply iodine compound or remove the gingival flap. When the teeth erupt, the root of the tooth is not yet developed, the alveolar bone is loose, the periodontal attachment is not firm and bad habits and other external forces can easily make the teeth shift and lead to misshapen jaw. (3) When abnormal tooth eruption is found, the necessary examination means such as X-ray film should be used to determine whether there is tooth misalignment or various factors that prevent eruption, to formulate relevant treatment measures, and to closely observe the dynamic eruption of teeth through intraoral and X-ray film examination at regular follow-up visits.
