Causes of cervical hypertrophy: 1. Long-term stimulation of chronic inflammation causes cervical congestion, edema, and hyperplasia of the cervical glands and interstitium resulting in different degrees of cervical hypertrophy. 2. Mucus retention may occur in the deep part of the cervical glands, forming cysts of different sizes and making the cervix hypertrophic. The surface of the hypertrophied cervix may also develop squamous epithelial detachment and columnar epithelial hyperplasia due to injury or inflammatory stimulation, resulting in erosion. Cervical hypertrophy or celiac disease alone is not an indication for IVF. IVF is only needed to help conception if accompanied by inflammation of the fallopian tubes or endometriosis.
