Is a bloody nose a fire?

Blood in the nose may be caused by fire or other causes, which needs to be analyzed on a case-by-case basis. Blood in the nose, also known as epistaxis, may be caused by fire from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine. From the perspective of Western medicine, blood in the nose may be caused by dryness of nasal mucosa and bleeding from rupture of small blood vessels; it may also be caused by damage to nasal mucosa or mucosal congestion and edema due to repeated digging of nostrils or inflammation, so that patients can have blood in nasal mucosa when they touch or blow their nose. If patients repeatedly have blood in the nose, they should be alert to whether it is due to benign or malignant tumor in the nasal cavity. If the symptoms of blood in the nose are not relieved after treatment, they need to go to the ENT department for nasal endoscopy, sinus CT and MRI and whole body examination in time to make a clear diagnosis. Therefore, patients are advised to develop good living habits, do not pick their nose, keep the room moist, and eat less or no spicy and irritating food.
