Maximum number of shots for diabetic macular edema

The maximum number of injections for diabetic macular edema is about 10. The common medication used is Ranibizumab, but each person’s condition is different, so there is some individual variation.
For diabetic macular edema, five to six injections are needed in the first year, two injections in the second year, and two injections in the third year. According to the relevant guidelines and expert consensus at home and abroad, when diabetic macular edema is first detected, it is injected once a month, and 5~6 injections are usually needed in the first year, and the second and third years need to be judged according to the progress of the patient’s condition.
For patients with diabetic macular edema, the primary treatment remains glycemic control. The occurrence of macular edema is mainly related to the leakage of neovascularization, so the general choice of injection of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor drugs, such as razumab.
