If you see a “polyp” in the area adjacent to the black eye with redness in the white of the eye, it may be a sign of a pterygium. It is a “fleshy” layer of tissue that grows into the nasal or temporal side of the cornea.
If a translucent “polyp” is seen in the red area of the eye away from the cornea, it may be part of the conjunctival edema caused by the primary disease or by rubbing the eye or a “retention cyst” caused by an obstruction in the lymphatic system of the eye.
