What is salivary gland disease?

Salivary glands, also known as salivary glands, include three pairs of major salivary glands: parotid, submandibular and sublingual, and minor salivary glands located in the oral cavity, pharynx, nasal cavity and submucosa of maxillary sinus. The minor salivary glands in the oral cavity are called palatine glands, labial glands, buccal glands, lingual glands and posterior molar glands according to their anatomical locations. All glands can secrete saliva, and the latter is closely related to swallowing, digestion, taste, speech, oral mucosa protection and caries prevention. There are many types of salivary gland diseases, mainly inflammation, trauma, Schegren’s syndrome, verrucous lesions and tumors.
