The best time for amblyopia treatment

The best time to treat amblyopia should be during the visual development period, with the best results before the age of 5 and basically no effect after the age of 12. Amblyopia is the loss of best corrected visual acuity in one or both eyes due to monocular strabismus and refractive error during visual development, and the main damage is the loss of stereopsis. The age of amblyopia treatment is particularly critical, with the best results at age 5, poorer results after age 10, and basically no hope of cure for adults with amblyopia. Some children are unable to speak orally, but often squint, hold things too close or refuse to cover one eye to see. Parents need to be aware of such behavior in their children to avoid delaying the best treatment. It is recommended that parents take their children to the ophthalmology department of a hospital, where doctors can develop a specific amblyopia treatment plan based on the child’s condition, and not to trust non-professional institutions that claim to be able to treat amblyopia, which may delay treatment and cause irreversible consequences.
