The Department of Urology of Tongji Hospital of Tongji University is the center for the diagnosis and treatment of urethral diseases of Tongji University, and is a master and doctoral training site of Tongji University; Director Wu Denglong and Director Li Chao, on the basis of retaining the characteristics of traditional urethral reconstruction techniques, have made bold innovative breakthroughs and carried out various new techniques of free tissue replacement and posterior urethral reconstruction, which have further improved and broken through the urethral reconstruction techniques and achieved good efficacy. The scope of patients covers all provinces in China, and clinically has used a variety of free tissues such as bladder mucosa, oral mucosa, tongue mucosa, and colon mucosa to treat complex urethral strictures, obtaining better results. We have treated more than 1,000 patients with complex urethral strictures and performed nearly 200 urethral reconstruction surgeries every year. The declared unit has undertaken and completed many national and provincial research projects, including three National Natural Science Foundation of China. So far, we have published dozens of papers related to urethral reconstruction in famous journals at home and abroad, including more than 10 SCI-indexed papers.
