Is it normal for the first chemotherapy for small cell lung cancer to be ineffective?

It is normal that the first chemotherapy for small cell lung cancer has no effect. Each person has different physique and sensitivity to drugs, and it may take one or two cycles of chemotherapy to see the effect. Compared with other types of lung cancer, small cell lung cancer has better efficacy of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Generally small cell lung cancer is not treated with surgery, and surgical resection is only performed in a very small number of patients with limited stage. Because most of the small cell lung cancers are associated with systemic spread at the time of diagnosis and are rapidly resistant to drugs, chemotherapy combined with chest radiotherapy can be chosen for treatment if chemotherapy is not effective. If small cell lung cancer is diagnosed, early and standardized treatment is recommended to minimize the adverse effects of the disease.
