How to treat adenomyoma of the uterus

Patient: I have unbearable abdominal pain during my period, ultrasound indicates adenomyoma, and now I’m getting injections (GnRHa) for treatment. What should I do if I don’t get my period by the 6th or 7th month? Will the injection make the adenomyoma shrink? I’m worried that the adenomyoma will grow back after I stop taking the injection, so should I have surgery to remove my uterus? Gao Guiqin, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Tianjin Central Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital: Generally, after using 3 or 4 injections of GnRHa drugs, symptoms of low estrogen, such as hot flashes and sweating, as well as loss of bone calcium, are the main symptoms. Calcium supplementation is recommended, or reverse hormone addition therapy is needed. No menstruation can be observed, and menstruation gradually returns after stopping the medication. Adenomyoma can generally be reduced during medication. After medication, a Manned Ring can be considered to reduce the symptoms. Some patients are also suitable for interventional treatment. Younger patients may be considered for adenomyomectomy. If the results are still not obvious, older patients without fertility requirements or patients with heavy menstruation and secondary anemia may opt for hysterectomy.
