Is lung cancer an “incurable disease”?

Many people believe that lung cancer is an “incurable disease”.
The truth is.

90% of early-stage lung cancers can be cured

.
Lung cancer can be cured through surgery if detected early. One study prospectively collected more than 100,000 cases worldwide over the last 10 years and concluded that patients with very early-stage (stage Ia) lung cancer with tumors smaller than 2 cm already have a 5-year survival rate of more than 90% after treatment. And these patients often end up dying not from lung cancer, but from other diseases.

Mid-stage lung cancer also has a 30% chance of being curable

About 30% of patients with mid-stage lung cancer are also expected to be cured with scientific and aggressive comprehensive treatment.

Some advanced patients may survive long-term with scientific treatment

In recent years, there have also been new advances in the treatment of advanced lung cancer. Two “new weapons” – targeted therapy and immunotherapy – may enable more than 10% of patients with advanced lung cancer to expect long-term survival.
Therefore, lung cancer is not an “incurable disease”. We are striving for a cure in the early stages and for long-term survival in the late stages.
