Time to elevated urinary amylase in pancreatitis

When urinary amylase values are measured in patients with pancreatitis, urinary amylase only starts to rise at 24 hours, reaches its highest value in about 1-2 days, undergoes a slow decline, and is able to gradually return to normal after 1-2 weeks. The diagnostic reference value of amylase varies with different methods of testing. Patients suffering from pancreatitis can also take tests such as blood amylase measurement and lipase to further check the severity of the pancreatitis condition and the degree of recovery. For the biochemical indicators taken for pancreatitis, amylase measurement also cannot be completely relied on as the indicator is elevated, indicating that the pancreas is relatively heavy, and sometimes urinary amylase may not be completely elevated when the pancreas is heavily exuded and pancreatic necrosis is present. For false negatives, clinical attention should also be paid to the situation.
