Acute pericoronitis is a common and frequent disease in dentistry, and young people aged 18-28 are the most common group for this disease. If symptomatic treatment is not given in a timely manner, it can cause the spread of inflammation and restriction of mouth opening function, and in severe cases, it can involve the adjacent soft tissue spaces and promote the formation of deep abscesses, posing a threat to the patient’s life. For acute pericoronitis, if left unchecked, there is a possibility of infective endocarditis in patients with underlying valvular heart disease, so patients with acute pericoronitis need to be given early anti-infective treatment to avoid progression of the disease.
