When pericoronitis is present in a tooth, oral anti-inflammatory medications such as cephalosporin, ornidazole, levofloxacin, amoxicillin, and roxithromycin can be taken. Peri-coronitis, mainly caused by the presence of bacteria in the gum pocket above the tooth, is an acute inflammation. In addition to anti-inflammatory medication, the most important thing is to apply peri-coronal rinses in the gum pockets, alternating between hydrogen peroxide and saline, and applying iodoglycerin in the gum pockets for local anti-inflammation. The pericoronal inflammation usually disappears after 3-5 days of adherence. Once pericoronitis occurs, it is best to take treatment measures, otherwise it can easily lead to interstitial infection and even life-threatening.
