The difference between hysteroscopy and laparoscopy

Hysteroscopy and laparoscopy are both methods to check some gynecological diseases, but many people are confused about what the difference between hysteroscopy and laparoscopy is, first of all, we should realize that hysteroscopy and laparoscopy are not the same. Hysteroscopy is a new minimally invasive gynecological examination and treatment measure that generally examines the internal condition of the uterus, and those with abnormalities in the uterine cavity can undergo hysteroscopy to confirm the diagnosis. Through hysteroscopy, the cervical canal, the endocervical canal, the endometrium of the uterine cavity and the opening of the bilateral fallopian tubes can be seen in a straightforward manner, enabling visual observation of the situation inside the uterine cavity, such as endometrial polyps, cervical canal polyps and submucosal fibroids. Laparoscopy, which is commonly known as minimally invasive surgery, is to examine the situation outside the uterus and the pelvic and abdominal cavities, such as the appearance of the uterus, the morphology of the fallopian tubes, ovaries, appendix and other intestinal tubes, in addition to the pelvic cavity, laparoscopy can also do upper abdominal surgery, digestive system, etc. The patient is under general anesthesia and laparoscopic surgery is a development and advancement of open surgery. The invention of laparoscopy has replaced most of the classical cesarean explorations, especially in ectopic pregnancy and ovarian tibial torsion. Men can also see the prostate, bladder, etc. So women can have hysteroscopy as well as laparoscopy, while men do not have the possibility to have hysteroscopy. In terms of hospitalization time, since hysteroscopy does not enter the abdominal cavity, but simply operates in the uterine cavity, the patient is much less traumatized than laparoscopic surgery, and in general, laparoscopic surgery can be performed 2-4 days after the operation, while hysteroscopic surgery patients can move freely without the use of analgesics for about 1 day, and there is no problem with venting and urination. Therefore, the site of hysteroscopy and laparoscopy is different. Patients should be clear about where they are uncomfortable and go to the hospital for a clear examination before undergoing surgery.
