What are dental implants?

Artificial dental implant, also known as implant denture, is a kind of bionic tooth made of biological material, which is divided into two parts: the implant (i.e. the root part), which is implanted in the human jawbone to play a supporting role, and the crown, which is responsible for chewing. According to the changes of the alveolar bone and jawbone after the loss of teeth, the doctor selects a certain shape of implant to be implanted in the jawbone as an artificial tooth root, and then installs a crown on the implant pile exposed in the mouth to obtain a shape and function similar to that of a natural tooth. The artificial dental implant has many advantages compared to the traditional denture: 1) its chewing function is much better than the traditional denture; 2) it has strong retention and stability, and can be rooted in the patient’s mouth like real teeth, which is conducive to the preservation of bone; 3) it can be used with less or no grinding of the real teeth; 4) it does not require the necessary abutments and rings of the removable denture, and there is no large plastic abutment to cause 5, small size, comfort, aesthetics, conducive to maintaining oral hygiene. Research shows that the five-year success rate is more than 90 percent.
