Nerve root cervical spondylosis belongs to the category of “paralysis” in Chinese medicine, mostly caused by strain or external injury, resulting in local qi and blood blockage. Patients with neurogenic cervical spondylosis suffer from localized numbness and pain in the upper limbs, which seriously affects their daily life and work. 1. Clinical data 1.1 Diagnostic criteria Diagnostic criteria were determined based on the reference to the Chinese medicine industry standard of the People’s Republic of China (ZY/T001.9-94). 1.2 Inclusion criteria ① Meet the diagnostic criteria of the aforementioned diseases or symptoms. ②Patients aged above 18 and below 65 years old, with no restriction on gender. ③Meet the requirements of the indications for the studied treatment technology. 2. Treatment methods 2.1 Treatment group 2.1.1 Acupuncture points Head: contralateral to the middle 2/5 of the posterior temporal oblique line. Local and upper limbs: cervical pinch spine, Tianzhu, shoulder well, shoulder k, Quchi, Waiguan, Hegu, Houxi. Nerve root type cervical spondylosis belongs to the category of “paralysis” in Chinese medicine and is mostly caused by local qi and blood obstruction due to strain or external injury. To address the characteristics of this disease, we adopt the treatment method of “moving qi and blood, promoting meridians and relieving pain” in order to achieve the goal of “no pain if you pass”. Scalp acupuncture is mainly based on the theory of internal organs and meridians in Chinese medicine and the functional positioning of the cerebral cortex to treat common clinical conditions, and scalp acupuncture has a close relationship with holographic theory. For neurogenic cervical spondylosis, acupuncture is taken to the middle 2/5 part of the posterior parietotemporal oblique line on the opposite side, the corresponding area of which is exactly the projection of the functional area of the brain of the affected upper limb positioned in the scalp. The mechanism of action is that one can directly regulate the function of the cerebral cortex, and the other is that stimulating the head acupuncture point can regulate the flow of qi and blood and unblock the meridians to achieve therapeutic purposes. In addition, by combining with local and upper limb acupuncture points can relieve the tension of muscles and ligaments in the lesioned area, eliminate inflammation and edema around the nerve roots, improve blood circulation around the injured tissues, and facilitate the improvement of symptoms, thus achieving the purpose of treating the disease.
