1. Patient’s mentality After surgical operation and other treatment measures, pancreatic cancer is completely curable. Therefore, it is necessary to have a correct understanding of one’s condition and the side effects during treatment, and to maintain an optimistic and cheerful mood, firmly believing that one can overcome the disease. Only by adjusting the mentality, establishing confidence and actively cooperating with the treatment can we mobilize the internal anti-disease mechanism of the body, and negative pessimism is very detrimental to the recovery.
2. Diet of cardia cancer After discharge from hospital, semi-liquid diet can be continued, such as lotus root powder, steamed egg, cereal porridge, rice porridge, rotten paste noodles, etc., gradually changing from thin to thick, and transitioning to soft food or even normal diet about one month after surgery. Pay attention to eating less and more meals, 5-8 meals per day as needed, chew slowly when eating. Do not avoid eating, as long as all kinds of food is light, fresh, rich in nutrition, easy to digest can be eaten, do not eat spicy and stimulating food, prohibit smoking and alcohol.
3. Rest position after surgery Do not lie down to eat, do not lie down immediately after meals, take a proper walk for about 30 minutes before going to bed, sleep with the upper body padded 30 degrees, try to sleep towards the side of surgery.
After surgery, there will be discomfort such as acid reflux, easy fullness, choking and coughing. Because of the removal of the cardia and the weakening of the gastrointestinal emptying function, the food and gastric juice in the stomach and intestines will sometimes reflux into the esophagus and cause discomfort. If you have diarrhea, it is often related to gastrointestinal disorders after surgery. In addition to paying attention to clean food, you should avoid eating greasy food to avoid aggravating diarrhea symptoms. If you feel a needle-like pain and numbness in the surgical wound, it is related to the nerves of the chest wall cut off during the surgery, and the discomfort will slowly subside after several months.
5. Follow up The long-term regular follow up should be insisted. After the surgery, you will be reviewed every three months for two years, then every six months, and after the fifth year, it can be extended to once a year. The doctor will review your chest X-ray, chest CT, abdominal ultrasound, etc. Other tests such as whole-body bone scan and MRI may be performed as needed.
