Cervical spondylosis, also known as cervical spine syndrome, is a general term for cervical osteoarthritis, proliferative cervical spondylitis, cervical nerve root syndrome and cervical disc prolapse, which is a disorder based on degenerative pathological changes. It is a clinical syndrome with a series of dysfunctions mainly due to long-term strain and osteophytes of the cervical spine, or disc prolapse and ligament thickening, resulting in compression of the cervical spinal cord, nerve roots or vertebral artery. The symptoms include destabilization and loosening of vertebral joints, herniated or prolapsed nucleus pulposus, bone spur formation, ligamentous hypertrophy and secondary spinal stenosis, which stimulate or compress the adjacent nerve roots, spinal cord, vertebral artery and cervical sympathetic nerve and other tissues, causing a series of symptoms and signs. Cervical spondylosis can be divided into: cervical cervical spondylosis, neurogenic cervical spondylosis, spinal cord cervical spondylosis, vertebral artery cervical spondylosis, sympathetic cervical spondylosis, and esophageal compression cervical spondylosis. Cervical spondylosis is a common disease among middle-aged and elderly people. It is mainly manifested as tight wrinkled pain in the back of the neck, numbness and pain in both upper limbs, muscle atrophy in the hands, weakness, dizziness and headache. Young people can also suffer from cervical spondylosis, and poor living habits are the root cause of this “middle-aged disease” in young people. Theoretically, cervical spondylosis is a degenerative disease that occurs mostly in middle-aged and elderly people. However, there are more and more young patients, and even college students have developed cervical spondylosis. Cervical spondylosis in young people is mostly related to work and lifestyle. Long-term ambulatory work, lack of necessary exercise or too much exercise can cause cervical spine disease. Excessive reliance on and use of smartphones, tablets or computers is a major cause of cervical spine disease in young people today that cannot be ignored. Nowadays, there are many blind spots in the treatment of cervical spine diseases. A common misconception is that “headaches are treated and feet are treated”. So many people focus their attention on the skeleton, and in serious cases, surgery is performed because of gullibility or “anxiety”, which has an irreversible impact on the body.
