The self-healing rate of femoral head necrosis stage 1 varies according to age, and the self-healing rate of femoral head necrosis in children is relatively high, reaching about 30%. This is because children are at the stage of growth and development, the bone itself is active in osteoblasts and the osteoclasts are relatively weak, so the repair ability is stronger and some patients can be cured by braking and resting. In contrast, adult femoral head necrosis is rarely self-healing because its repair ability decreases, metabolism slows down, osteoblast osteogenesis decreases, and osteoclast osteolysis increases. The self-healing rate of stage 1 osteonecrosis does not exceed 20%, so even early stage patients should be actively treated after osteonecrosis has occurred.
