Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

Abdominal aortic aneurysm can be registered with the Department of Vascular Surgery, or General Surgery if the attending hospital does not have a Department of Vascular Surgery, and the patient can choose according to the setup of the hospital department. Abdominal aortic aneurysm mostly refers to permanent limited dilatation of the abdominal aorta, and a 50% increase in vessel diameter is generally defined as an aneurysm. In the early stages, patients are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms, but as the disease progresses, symptoms such as a throbbing mass in the abdomen, abdominal pain, and rupture of the aneurysm may occur. Therefore, once an abdominal aortic aneurysm is detected, the patient should actively consult the vascular surgery department or general surgery department of the hospital for targeted treatment. For aneurysms less than 4cm in diameter, dynamic observation and follow-up is the mainstay. For aneurysms with a diameter greater than or equal to 4cm, or with a significant tendency to increase in size, surgery is generally recommended.
