Femoral head necrosis and alcohol consumption

More and more clinical cases and literature support that there is a close relationship between femoral head necrosis and alcoholism, and that alcohol consumption, especially long-term heavy drinking, has become one of the common causes of femoral head necrosis in China. In daily life, drinking habits have become an inseparable part of people’s lives, and China has a rich wine culture and wine consumption history, of which liquor consumption can be said to be among the top in the world. So drinking alcohol in the end is good for the body? It is not easy to answer this question. First of all, everyone’s sensitivity to alcohol is different. The main component of drinking alcohol of different alcoholic strength is ethanol, other trace but harmful to the human body are methanol, acetaldehyde, butane, esters, histamine, phenols, tannic acid, etc., and some trace elements. If the alcohol is bad or fake, it is more harmful to the human body. Most of the alcohol is absorbed at the end of the small intestine, and a small amount is absorbed in the mucous membrane of the mouth and stomach. A small amount is excreted through the lungs, urine and sweat, and most of it is metabolized and broken down by the liver. Without various enzymes (an important factor in determining whether an individual can drink alcohol), alcohol cannot be broken down or is incompletely broken down, and its metabolites, such as acetaldehyde, are extremely harmful to the human body. In life, it is easy to see that the amount of alcohol consumed can be improved through exercise. However, it cannot be denied that a person’s tolerance for alcohol is mainly determined by innate factors. Second, a little is good for the mood, more is bad. Although we have a good or bad tolerance to alcohol, but alcohol is not a rice bun after all, long-term heavy drinking is certainly not beneficial to the human body. There is a term called “alcoholism”, which usually takes a blood concentration of 80-100mg/dl as the standard for intoxication, but some people say that alcoholism should not be judged by the amount of alcohol consumed or the amount of alcohol content, but by the sensitivity of the small arteries at the end of the individual microcirculation to alcohol. In addition, intoxication is not the same as alcohol poisoning, it is a part of alcoholism, mainly manifested in the mental, digestive and motor system symptoms. Alcohol can cause fat metabolism disorders, which can lead to alcoholic liver, local vasculitis and hemodynamic abnormalities. The above changes can lead to ischemic necrosis of the femoral head. Long-term heavy alcohol consumption may not always cause femoral head necrosis, but it is certainly one of the main causes of femoral head necrosis. It is often seen in everyday life that some people drink heavily every day without any problems, while others are unfortunate, and it is for this reason that it is difficult for people to give up alcohol consumption or even drink in small amounts. Alcohol consumption is not an independent factor, drinking habits, physical quality, quality of alcohol, etc. all have an impact on the results of alcohol consumption. Fourth, alcohol-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head is mainly seen in young men, sometimes patients will have hyperuricemia or even gout, especially hyperuricemia is considered to be one of the causes of osteonecrosis of the femoral head, or at least an epidemiological factor. If a young man is found to have dyslipidemia, fatty liver, high uric acid, and has a long history of heavy alcohol consumption, then it should be taken very seriously.
