TNM staging of thyroid cancer

Tumor staging is often based on the size of the tumor itself, the presence or absence of regional lymph node metastases, and the presence or absence of distant metastases to classify the degree of tumor progression, which is commonly referred to as TNM staging. For the average patient, the most recent version (2010) of TNM staging of thyroid cancer is still intricate and complex. However, it is easy to see that young patients (<45 years old) with differentiated thyroid cancer, the most common papillary and follicular carcinomas, are all classified as stage I, regardless of the size of the mass and the presence or absence of lymph node metastasis. This shows that the prognosis of thyroid cancer is encouraging as long as we have a calm mind and treat it aggressively.
