What are the symptoms of a small intracranial ischemic focus?

An intracranial oligoischemic focus may or may not cause symptoms such as inflexibility of movement, slurred speech, and memory loss in one limb. An intracranial oligoischemic focus is often a description on the report of a CT scan of the head. It implies that the patient has had a previous cerebral infarction with some infarctive foci remaining. The patient may experience hemiparesis of one limb, slurred speech, choking on drinking water, or memory loss or decreased intellectual level. Some ischemic foci are smaller in size or avoid important functional areas of the brain tissue and may have no obvious symptoms. The detection of this phenomenon is recommended to consult a doctor who carefully examines the presence of risk factors for cerebral infarction. If high blood pressure or diabetes is present, drugs such as amlodipine can be taken to lower blood pressure and drugs such as metformin to lower blood sugar in order to reduce the risk of recurrence of ischemic cerebrovascular disease.
