Panic is generally not a sign of something bad happening, and there is no scientific basis.
Panic is also called palpitations, can be manifested as the subjective heartbeat or heart “stopping feeling”, “intermittent feeling”, such a situation is mostly physiological, do not need special treatment, pay attention to rest, do not stay up late, do not overstress and fatigue.
Common clinical causes of panic include sinus tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, premature ventricular contractions, and paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia.
If panic is characterized by a slowly increasing heart rate, sinus tachycardia may be considered. If it is characterized by an increase in the intensity of the heartbeat with a “stopping sensation”, consider the possibility of premature ventricular contractions. If there is a sudden increase in heart rate with a regular pulse, consider the possibility of supraventricular tachycardia. If the heartbeat is tachycardic and the pulse is irregular, atrial fibrillation may be the cause.
If there are intermittent bouts of panic attacks with no other discomfort, it can be observed and does not need to be treated. If recurrent panic attacks are accompanied by chest tightness, shortness of breath, sweating, or even dizziness and blackouts, it is recommended to consult a doctor to identify the cause of the panic attacks and treat the cause.
