Adverse effects at the time of treatment are generally rare and tend to occur in the first week of treatment and disappear after 2-3 weeks of continued treatment; these include fatigue, yawning, mild nausea, diarrhea, or sweating. Compared to depressed patients taking SSRIs, premature ejaculation patients without depression rarely report events such as decreased libido and erectile dysfunction, while rare men experience neurological adverse effects including euphoria and mild mania. On-demand administration of chlorpromazine, paroxetine, sertraline, fluoxetine and fluoxetine 3-6 hours prior to intercourse is mildly effective and well tolerated by patients, but most studies have shown a significant reduction in delayed ejaculation time compared to daily treatment. On-demand treatment can be combined with other daily treatments or used in preliminary trials of low-dose daily treatments. The report showed that 30% of patients refused to take them when starting treatment (paroxetine, 10 mg takes 21 days and 20 mg daily) and another 30% would ask to stop when they first started treatment.
