Breast self-examination

  1.Examination method (1) Take off your shirt, first take a supine position with a pillow on your back to make the sagging mammary glands spreading and easy to touch. Then, place both hands flat on both breasts and use the opposite index finger, middle finger and ring finger to check the breasts in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction, and finally use your fingers to check the areola area.  (2) Stand in front of a mirror, bare your upper body, drop both hands, relax and observe whether there is any abnormality in the shape of both breasts, then lightly press the nipples to see if there is any discharge, observe whether there is any change in the nipple areola and whether both nipples are equal in height.  (3) Cross your arms, lean your upper body forward, press your shoulders and elbows slightly forward, and observe whether there is any abnormality in the mirror breast.  (4) Raise both arms high and observe whether there is any abnormality in the outer contour of the breast in the mirror, and whether there is any depression or local elevation of the skin. The arms are raised and the torso is bent laterally to the left and right for the same examination.  (5) Raise the left arm and carefully examine the left breast with the fingers of the right hand, examining each part of the breast once. In the same way, use the left hand to examine the right breast.  (6) Check for lumps, nipple overflow or enlarged axillary lymph nodes in the order of upper outer, lower outer, upper inner, lower inner, areola, nipple and axilla.  (7) Place your fingers flat on the breast and touch it gently, do not grab and pinch! If you find problems or abnormalities, go to the hospital in time.  2.Checking time The best time for breast self-examination is 7 to 10 days after each menstruation, if the inspection is coated with lubricant, it can increase the sensitivity of the finger, to moderate pressure touching the breast, in order to timely detection of lumps in the breast.  3.Check for abnormalities Breasts with the following abnormalities: nipples appear invaginated, retracted or elevated, nipples with overflow, brown, dark red, bright red, yellowish. The nipple and areola epidermis has flaking, flushing, erosion, lumps in the breast tissue or swollen lymph nodes in the armpit should seek medical attention in time.
