There is no direct relationship between the amount of HIV and death. A higher HIV count generally indicates a more infectious disease. In addition, it may take a shorter time to progress to the AIDS stage. The main causes of death in AIDS patients are opportunistic infections such as Pneumocystis pneumonia, cryptococcal meningitis, tuberculous meningitis, and various tumors. These opportunistic infections need to be treated promptly, otherwise there is a risk of death. Patients with HIV need timely antiviral treatment and regular review of CD4 cells and HIV counts. With regular antiretroviral treatment, AIDS is completely manageable.
