Cervicitis is the most common type of gynecological disease. There are two types of cervical inflammation, acute cervicitis and chronic cervicitis, with relatively similar symptoms but widely varying treatments. For acute cervicitis, the treatment is mainly directed at the pathogen, so the first step is to identify the pathogen. For different pathogens, different antibiotics are used to treat them. The principles of treatment are timely, adequate, standardized, and thorough, along with treatment of sexual partners. For chronic cervicitis, according to the different pathological types of chronic inflammation, local treatment, physical therapy, medication and surgery can be used as the main treatment. Commonly used physical therapy methods are cryotherapy, electric ironing method, laser therapy, microwave therapy, infrared coagulation therapy, etc. Various physical therapy methods are similar, and the principle is to destroy the monolayer columnar epithelium of the cervical erosion surface by various physical methods, so that it will be covered by the new layer of compound squamous epithelium after necrosis and shedding. If there are cervical polyps, the polyps need to be removed surgically and the removed polyps should be sent for pathological examination. Medication is indicated for cases with superficial inflammatory infiltration. However, before treatment of chronic cervicitis, cervical cytology and cervical HPV-DNA tests must be routinely performed to exclude cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and early cervical cancer. For acute cervicitis, antibiotic treatment is the mainstay, and for chronic cervicitis, local treatment is the mainstay.
