How soon can you have intercourse after a cesarean section

After a normal cesarean section, women can have intercourse three months after delivery if they have recovered well from the incision. A cesarean section is a type of delivery in which the layers of tissue, including the peritoneum of the abdominal wall and the uterus, are cut open to remove the fetus from the uterus. It is an invasive operation, so it is advisable to have sex only when the incision has recovered well. First of all, the puerperium is the period of 42 days after delivery and you cannot have sex during this time because it takes time for the uterus to expel the malignant dew. Moreover, the incision on the front wall of the uterus and the incision on the abdomen need a period of time to heal, usually about three months. Therefore, if the incision is well recovered after the cesarean section, it is recommended to have sex three months after delivery. In addition, women must pay attention to regular follow-up after delivery to review the recovery of the uterus and the incision of the abdominal wall. Strenuous exercise is not recommended during the three months after delivery, but walking can be appropriate.
