Ophthalmoscope FAQ

1.What does the OK lens do? Wearing OK lenses has two major benefits: (1) No need to wear any glasses during the day, clear vision in the naked eye, to achieve the effect of no myopia. (2) can effectively curb the rapid progression of myopia, delaying the growth of the eye axis, reducing the chances of high myopia fundus lesions. 2. Are OK lenses safe and reliable? The keratoplasty technology has been widely used in Europe and the United States for decades and has been clinically proven to be effective and has accumulated a wealth of experience. At present, China’s Drug Administration has approved the introduction of production, and in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangzhou and other well-known eye hospitals clinical use. 3.Does wearing OK lenses have side effects? The keratoplasty lens belongs to the contact lens, theoretically there will still be complications of contact lens, such as corneal infection, epithelial punctate detachment, conjunctival congestion, etc.. However, because OK lenses are made of special high-permeability materials, they are perfectly suitable for nighttime wear. If the scientific wearing method is strictly followed, the possibility of complications can be minimized. At present, the statistical incidence is only 1/5 of that of ordinary daily wear contact lenses, and most of the problems can be recovered by suspending wearing. 4.What is the effect after wearing OK lens? Generally after 2 hours of wear, myopia can be reduced by an average of 100 degrees, after wearing overnight, the reduction can reach 50% to 75% of the final value, generally within 500 degrees of myopia during the day without wearing any glasses. 5.What is the fitting process of OK lenses? Because these lenses are custom-made, there are more checks to be done during the fitting, and the whole process takes about 2 hours and 7 to 10 days to get the lenses. After the first day, week, and month of wearing the lenses, a review is required, and then every three months. 6.What is the treatment principle of OK lens? The OK lens is designed with a special reversed arc, and its inner surface consists of several arc segments. The tear layer between the lens and the cornea is unevenly distributed, and the resulting hydrodynamic effect changes the geometry of the cornea, flattening the center and shortening the eye axis, thus reducing or even eliminating myopia. However, the cornea is elastic and will gradually return to its pre-lens state after stopping wear. Therefore, the effect of OK lens to reduce myopia is temporary, need to wear long-term to maintain the effect. 7.How can OK lenses stop myopia from deepening? The cornea is aspheric, so when the vision is corrected by conventional methods such as frames, the incident light is refocused on the retina at the center of the cornea, but the peripheral tribe is behind the retina, leading to further growth of the eye axis. After wearing keratoplasty lenses, the cornea tends to spheroidize, and the incident light is refocused or nearly focused on the retina at both the central and midperipheral parts of the cornea, curbing further elongation of the eye axis. Studies at Ohio University and Hong Kong Polytechnic University have shown that after two years of keratoplasty, the growth of the eye axis is only half that of wearing frames and soft contact lenses. Research at Beijing University showed that the average annual myopic growth after keratoplasty was 8 degrees, compared to 67 degrees for those who wore frames. 8. What is the price of OK lenses? Because OK lenses are made of highly permeable materials, they can be worn at night, and each pair of glasses is made individually, so the price is higher than ordinary frames and corneal contact lenses. The price of each pair of lenses (two pieces) is about 5,000 yuan, and each pair of lenses is generally available for 1 to 2 years.
