Rectal disease can lead to bladder irritation signs, which may occur when there is severe inflammation or tumours in the rectum, when the inflammation invades the bladder or when the tumour compresses or invades the bladder.
If the bladder irritation is caused by inflammation of the rectum, antibiotics can be given for rectal inflammation and when the inflammation subsides, both rectal inflammation and bladder irritation will disappear. In the case of rectal tumours, surgery to remove the tumour or chemotherapy and radiotherapy may be required to relieve the symptoms.
