What should I do if I have hematuria?

The presence of haematuria first needs to be clarified as to what disease is causing it. This can be done by testing the anterior, middle and posterior segments of urine to determine whether the source of the haematuria is the anterior urethra, bladder or kidneys. Ultrasound and CT examinations are also needed to rule out the presence of urinary tract stones and tumours. For patients with unexplained haematuria, regular urine tests and related investigations should be performed to monitor changes in the condition.
