Acute renal colic can be temporarily treated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen for pain relief if the pain is tolerable. If the pain is not relieved or is intolerable, you may need to go to the emergency department of the hospital for intravenous acetaminophen to relieve the pain.
