I am often asked by patients: Doctor, I often have a rattling sound in my neck, what is the cause? Is there a problem? Why does the neck make a rattling sound? There are several reasons why the neck makes a sound. 1, tendon ligament and bone friction: when the joint activity, tendon ligament will also slide, especially when the tendon ligament degeneration, elasticity decline or ligament calcification, tendon ligament in the bone surface sliding, friction, you will hear the clucking; 2, gas escape: in the human joint, there is a liquid called synovial fluid, is used to lubricate the joint. This synovial fluid contains some gas and constitutes a bubble in the synovial fluid. When the joint is stretched, the gas in the synovial fluid runs away sharply, forming a ringing sound; 3, joint degeneration to form a rough V joint surface: joint due to degeneration, which was a smooth joint surface into a rough and uneven surface, when the joint activity, mutual friction will occur ringing. There are two types of this condition, physiological and pathological. Generally speaking, only the ringing, the appearance is not red or swollen, and do not feel pain, not accompanied by activity disorders belong to the physiological ringing, it does not need special treatment, and do not need to be too anxious about it; if the ringing is accompanied by pain and discomfort or limited activity, it belongs to the pathological ringing, need to be clearly diagnosed by the doctor’s examination, and make the corresponding treatment.
