Sore throat (commonly known as “sore throat”) is a common symptom of many diseases. The common causes are inflammation of the throat (bacterial and viral infections), trauma, chemicals, and tumors. This condition can also be a local manifestation of adjacent organs and systemic diseases. The main sore throat caused by pharyngeal diseases are: 1. Acute bacterial pharyngeal diseases: such as acute pharyngitis, acute tonsillitis, lingual tonsillitis, proliferative tonsillitis, peri-tonsillar abscess, etc. Mostly caused by hemolytic streptococci, staphylococci, and diplococcus pneumoniae. 2.Peripharyngeal infection: such as retropharyngeal abscess and parapharyngeal abscess, which are mostly seen for painful swallowing, dysphagia and dyspnea. 3.Sore throat caused by special diseases: such as pharyngeal tuberculosis, pharyngeal lupus, chronic tuberculous ulcer in the pharynx, sclerosing disease, ulcerative membrane pharyngitis, etc. 4, non-infectious sore throat: pharyngeal wall trauma and foreign body, radiopharyngalgia, chemical burning sore throat, malignant tumor of the pharynx, linguopharyngeal neuralgia, supraglottic neuralgia, functional pharyngitis, mucosal allergic reaction, etc.
