Abnormalities in the shape and position of the maxillofacial skeleton are often caused by congenital developmental abnormalities, surgery, and trauma, resulting in facial deformities and dysfunction of the oromandibular system. Orthognathic surgery is a clever design to move the maxillofacial bones to a reasonable position to improve the facial appearance and function of the oromandibular system. Many of the problems commonly known as “geodesic”, “buck teeth” and “square face” can be corrected through orthognathic surgery.
