What calcium tablets are good for hand and foot cramps

If the cramps in the hands and feet are caused by calcium deficiency, it is sufficient to take ordinary calcium tablets, and there is no special calcium tablet that will have a particularly good effect. The calcium preparations commonly used in clinical practice are calcium carbonate and calcium gluconate, among which calcium carbonate has a higher calcium content and is used more often in clinical practice. If it is clear that hand and foot cramps are caused by low calcium, the clinical manifestations are generally obvious in small muscle groups, such as calves, arms and facial muscles. Patients need to pay attention to monitoring the level of vitamin D after taking oral calcium supplements, because the lack of vitamin D in the body will affect the absorption of calcium in the intestine, i.e. calcium is not well absorbed into the blood after entering the intestine, so people with calcium deficiency should check the level of vitamin D in addition to the routine calcium check. If vitamin D is lacking, it must be supplemented at the same time. If liver and kidney function is normal, it is recommended to supplement with regular vitamin D. If liver or kidney function is abnormal, it is recommended to supplement with osteotriol. Patients with hand and foot cramps may develop hypercalcemia if they take too much vitamin D supplementation or too much calcium supplementation. Therefore, it is important to monitor blood calcium levels as well as vitamin D levels during calcium supplementation therapy to be able to better adjust medication doses.
