Some prostatitis can cause anal pain. Clinically, prostatitis causes anal pain in two major categories: 1. Patients with acute bacterial prostatitis have a septic infection due to the prostate being adjacent to the rectum, especially when the prostate forms a purulent infection, forming a prostate abscess that can cause anal swelling, pain or tingling or even bowel movements, but no real digestive symptoms. 2. Chronic non-bacterial The actual painful prostatitis will show up as wandering pain in the perineum, around the anus, inner thighs, scrotum, and multiple parts of the small abdomen, with uncertain pain levels and frequent changes in pain location, which is typically one of the symptoms of chronic prostatitis.
